Demographics and Cultural Change in Southeast-Asia (4-5 months)

BACKGROUND

The course β€œDemographics and cultural change in Southeast Asia” evaluates changes in the composition of the population as age, race and sex and the cultural mix due to international migration and implies how it affects the society in different ways. It will focus on theories about social demographics and emphasis potential threads and means for social and political systems in South-east Asia. The course will provide a historical perspective and a future outlook about changing social-cultural processes, fertilities, patterns and migration flows.

 

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion, students should be able to manage their learning experiences to:

1.             Identify the different cultures of  Sotheast-Asia

2.             Understand Demographic change in  recent history and in the future

3.             Understand demographics in Sotheast-Asian countries

4.             Evaluate changes in the composition of the population

5.             Evaluate changes in the cultural mix

6.             Identify factors of international migration

7.             Learn about social demographics theories

8.             Identify benefits and threads of international migration
