Upskill Study Program
Bringing higher education to a whole new level, Upskill Study Program specifies its course into moving formal classrooms to local communities abroad. Knowledge and skills to be applied to where it is needed the most to bring the most powerful effect, a real environment.
We created and designed programs that encourage cultural exchange through knowledge sharing that pave the way for sustainable state-of-the-art solutions for both the environment and local communities.
Semester Study Programs in Bali (16 weeks)
Upskill study programs collaborate with the Faculty of Natural Sciences (MIPA) and the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FKP), Faculty of Politics and Social Sciences and our newest collaboration with Udayanaโs Magister Program of Environment, offer study and short term programs in the following fields:
Bachelor Program
Tropical Biology & Conservation Study in Bali
The course in general introduces and discusses a particular level (i.e.: Indonesia), about the ecology of the main tropical marine ecosystems, on coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove forests, for instance. The course is expected to give deeper aspects of Marine pollution and ecosystem destruction. Furthermore, the study aims on: Oceanography and Water quality (Physical, Chemical and biological), Productivity, Global warming, Destructive fishing (catching and pearl clam culture), Oil pollution, Fish feeding pollution (Cage and pond), Physical destruction (tourism activity), IMTA (Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture). Postgraduate Program
Tropical Coastal Ecology & Community Based Management Study in Bali
This is a semester program in Bali focused on tropical coastal ecology and community-based management. Students will spend 16 weeks studying the rich ecosystems like coral reefs and mangroves, and how local communities manage them for conservation and tourism. The program includes lectures, field trips with professionals, and a research project. Students can earn up to 30 credits towards your degree. The program is divided into modules you can choose from, and mandatory courses in Indonesian language and a student project.
Summer Courses / Short-Term Study Programs in Bali (4 weeks)
Sustainability & Eco Tourism 6-7.5 ECTS
The 4-week intense summer course is hoped to get the participants to recognize and understand the impact of tourism in Bali and to learn what can be done towards sustainable and eco-tourism. During the course, various field trips will be held for participants to gain deeper insights into the ongoing efforts that are created in order to reduce the negative impacts of mass tourism, at the same time to witness and preserve Baliโs main tourist attractions: its nature and cultural practices. Intercultural Communications 6-7.5 ECTS
This 4 weeks course offers a comprehensive knowledge on intercultural communications. It is designed to study social attributes, thought patterns and culture of different groups of people, which will lead participants not only to theoretically understand and value cultural differences but also to have skills of intercultural communications. Identity and culture are also studied within the discipline of communication to analyze how globalization influences ways of thinking, beliefs, values and identity within and between cultural environments. Sport and Environment 6-7.5 ECTS
Bali is one of the best destinations in the world when it comes to outdoor sports. Here, a tropical paradise awaits you with stunning beaches, lush forests, and a mountain landscape that has everything a sports enthusiast could want. The island of gods is famous among surfers for hosting some of the best waves in the world, but also lets you explore some of the prime kite surfing and scuba diving spots. Away from the beaches, Bali's mountains will provide ideal opportunities for hiking, trekking and mountain biking. With a variety of active volcanoes, such as Mount Batur and Mount Agung, to choose from, you will find the perfect challenge. Balinese Traditional & Complementary Medicine 6-7.5 ECTS
Balinese traditional and complementary medicine, known as Usada Bali, is one of the prominent aspects of Balinese culture. Balinese traditional healing practices use natural herbs and spices, holistic therapies and ancient wisdom to cure physical and mental illness. The course introduces the basic concept, some techniques and practices of Balinese traditional therapies including Usada Bali based herbal remedies, Balinese massage, energy and spiritual healing through yoga and meditation.
