The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government with the aim to provide opportunities for international students to pursue higher education studies in Hungary. The main mission of the program is to increase the number of international students in Hungary and encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to attract the best international students.

The scholarship program is administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and coordinated by the Tempus Public Foundation. The program is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements signed between the Ministries responsible for education in the sending countries/territories and Hungary. Currently more than 80 sending partners are involved in the program on 5 different continents, and the geographical scope of the program is expanding every year.

The scholarship program offers full and partial study opportunities in a three-cycle degree structure (Bachelor, Master, and doctoral programs), mostly in English, however, other foreign language study programs are also available within the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program. Students can also apply for a one-year Hungarian language preparatory training course, who can then continue their higher education studies in Hungarian.
